Introduction

Blocks 1-4 include content pertaining to communication technology, communication networks, pedagogical designs for communication technology, managing technological changes, student assessment in technology enhanced learning,  radio,  audio,  television,  and video.  Satellite  based  education, e-learning, m-learning, content creation tools, synchronous and asynchronous interactive tools and learning management systems. Along with theoretical content, this course includes a practical component, which is Block 5: learning portfolio. This component helps to develop the skills required for using the technologies described in the other blocks of this course.

A Learning Portfolio is a set of activities designed in the context of the four Blocks of MDE-518: Educational Communication Technologies. We have categorized the Learning Activities (LA) as compulsory and optional. You have to complete all the compulsory LAs and work on any six (6) of the optional LAs.

This block enables you to:

  •  discuss the idea of the learning portfolio, its types including e-portfolio; and
  •  create an engaging, collaborative, and reflective learning environment.

The assessment of the Learning Portfolio shall be done by the evaluators. The grading norms of IGNOU applicable to the Master of Arts in Distance Education programme shall be applied for grading the portfolio. The evaluator will assess each Learning Activity (LA), then divide by eight (total number of LA expected) the sum of the scores of each LA to get the numerical score. For grading and conversion of letter grade to grade points the following table will be used.
